Last month, it was announced that MARS PetCare is acquiring Champion Pet Foods, the makers of Orijen and Acana. The Green Spot’s been around long enough to know that this tends to be the lifecycle of many pet food brands - growing until they can be sold to the ‘big guys’ and once they’re sold, quality drops quickly. While Champion has been known to make quality pet foods, the same cannot be said for Mars. With this news, our team has decided that we will be phasing out our selection of both Orijen and Acana dog and cat foods. We will still be able to special order this food for you if you choose to stick with it, but please understand that we will not participate in their frequent buyer program after 12/31/22.
Not to worry, though! We’ve partnered with some of our team’s favorite brands to offer you something you won’t find anywhere else! If you have an active Astro Frequent Buyer card with us for either Orijen or Acana, you can choose from one of the following brands for a trial bag of a new dog and or cat food to try with your pet (depending on your active frequent buyer cards). These brands have also kindly agreed to take on your purchases on open frequent buyer cards from Champion you have acquired with us so no worries about losing out on any previous purchases toward your free bag!

Not only are these brands willing to give you a FREE small bag of their food to try, and take over your frequent buyer purchases, but if you do select a free bag of food from one of our eligible vendors to transition to, you’ll also receive an additional coupon at checkout which will be good for 20% off your next purchase of that new food!
